Godzilla and his friends and foes are lurking in Bridgeport.
A love of all things Godzilla, and a job layoff, prompted Loris Basso to launch Monster Island Toys in 2004 online. And now he has retail space on the South Side.
For $20 dollars and beyond, kids and collectors can pick up a monster figurine, which Loris says will quickly jump in value.
Not into Godzilla? Step an aisle over and get a few blasts from the past, like Bruce Lee, the original Batman, vintage Star Wars, GI Joe and Battlestar Galactica.
For that more mature crowd there’s Predator, Scarface and TV characters like the Walking Dead.
It is a little childhood magic, Loris says, that keeps kids of all ages walking through his doors.
