LAMONT – Kicking off Christmastime in Lamont, (Lamont) Feed Mill Antiques will host a “Holiday Open House,” this Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23 and 24.
Also, decking the halls this weekend is the Lamont Historical Museum, which will be hosting its annual Christmas at the Museum and Silent Auction Event for the
next three weekends.
The Lamont Feed Mill/Elevator was part of the small town fabric of the county’s farthest eastern community for decades, closing its doors forever in the late 1980s due to the changing times.
Around 1987, the building - which still housed the former mill’s grain equipment – became a local veterinary clinic for a few years, before changing hands several times until 2001. The late Steve Sanders purchased the building in 2001 and transformed it into an antique shop called Lamont Feed Mill Antiques.
Sanders passed the business on to his special friend and business partner Joyce Geistkemper, following his death in 2011.
With a knack for floral arranging and display, Geistkemper added a floral design and gift shop in 2012.
This weekend, Geistkemper hosts her second annual Christmas Open House event, featuring holiday decorations, gift ideas, apple cider and cookies from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
While there, check out the beautiful selection of scarves, jewelry, purses, candles, decorative items and seasonal décor for purchase. Fall and spring items are discounted 25 percent off. And the shop still houses a large inventory of gently used antiques and collectible items.
Also, be sure to stop by the Lamont Historical Museum, while you’re in town. Step back in time, learn about Lamont’s history, see the new displays, and don’t
forget to bid on your favorite holiday item during Christmas at the Museum’s silent auction. The Lamont Historical Museum will be open this Sunday from 11
a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1; Sunday December 8th; and Friday and Saturday Dec. 13th and 14th for the town’s big “Christmas in Lamont” celebration. More details will be forthcoming.
Lamont Feed Mill Antiques is located along Highway 187 in Lamont; and Lamont Historical Museum is located on Bush St., in downtown Lamont. Call 563-920-4791
