A family with a history and passion for collectibles has opened Pickers Flea Market Antique & Collectible Mall in The Empire Mall area.
Claire Thorson and his niece, Brenda Engen, have more than 70 vendors in the store at 3201 S. Shirley Ave. and expect to add at least 15 more Feb. 1.
With 18,700 square feet of display space, it's one of the largest market in the area, Thorson said.
"We have room for about 120-plus vendors," he said.
Thorson started three collectibles shops in Yankton before moving to Sioux Falls and doing volunteer work at the Furniture Mission for the past seven years. Engen has a full-time job. Both of them have had booths at other antique businesses in the area.
Pickers is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
