To raise funds for the "Save the Prematurely Born
Infants" project, national artist Ajarn Nontiwat Chantanapalin has created a limited edition in white porcelain of sculpture of his entitled "Father of the
Land". This miniature piece (it's only 23cm wide) shows a male figure, intended to represent HM the King, sitting with legs crossed. Seated on his lap is a little smiling boy, who is supposed to symbolise the people of Thailand.
Only 999 copies of this porcelain piece have been created. They are being sold for 12,999 baht each to raise money for this new charity to aid premature infants, which was set up to mark HM the Queen's 80th birthday and HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn's 60th birthday. It is being operated as part of the Thai Maternal and Child Health Network under the patronage of HRH Princess Srirasm.
Advance orders for the porcelain piece are being accepted until April 30 next year by the Siriraj Foundation (c/o Siriraj Hospital, Phran Nok).
