Solvang Antiques and the Judith Hale Gallery announce the opening of their fall holiday “Small Works” art show. The exhibit will run through December. An artists’ reception will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.
During the exhibit, special demonstrations by the artists will be presented weekly from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays starting with Lou Mariani on Nov. 23. Mariani is a Santa Barbara-based stone sculptor who has an impressive collection and style. His “Rhino” in Arizona Onyx is featured on Solvang Antiques holiday mailer.
Nancy Phelps, a popular local artist working in oils, will be featured on Nov. 30, and Sheryl Knight will be the featured artist on Dec. 7. Knight is receiving recognition for her plein air style with many awards recently added to
her credentials and level of juried competitions.
The last two weeks of demonstrations include Joe Mancuso on Dec. 14 and Dee Prater on Dec. 21.
Mancuso is a California artist who is very accomplished in pastel, and in recent years has added oils to his expertise.
Prater wraps up the list of visiting artists for this season. Her specialty is bronze sculpture, but she also often works in a process she calls “Lamina,” to create her equine forms.
In addition, all of the gallery artists have prepared new works for the show. Dirk Foslien, one of the gallery’s most popular landscape artists, has submitted
a figurative selection. There are also new works from Dave DeMatteo, Robert Davis, Bob Coronato, and many more.
Solvang Antiques and the Judith Hale Gallery are at 1693 Copenhagen Drive, Solvang, and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
