LOGANVILLE - The artistic presentation skill at My Sister’s Antiques recently made a splash after the local antique store won a major prize at a regional antique fair.
Sister-owners Christy Morris O’Hara and Angie Webb Preisendanz brought home the Best Display Award at the annual Country Living Fair at Stone Mountain for
their booth at the event.
“We were very surprised,” O’Hara said. “We didn’t know we had been chosen until we saw the camera crew.”
The downtown Loganville business, which has operated for five years, has been appearing at the Stone Mountain event for the past three years, setting up displays alongside many established vendors across the state.
“It’s a well-known event among antique dealers,” O’Hara said.
O’Hara said they pleased with the effect this year’s presentation had on visitors.
“We try to keep it a little rustic but magical as well, with a little whimsy,” O’Hara said. “You can find everything from a crystal chandelier to a rustic carriage wheel. It’s a lot of hard work and dedication. We felt we did
very well.”
The judges thought so as well and named My Sister’s Antiques as the best display, taking pictures that will be printed along with a profile of the business in an upcoming issue of Country Living Magazine.
“It’s a huge honor to be chosen as the best display,” O’Hara said.
The sisters also work to keep their business on Main Street going strong.
“It’s doing really well,” O’Hara said. “We’re quite happy with it and our wonderful dealers.”
After their annual visit to Stone Mountain, the store is now gearing up for another yearly tradition, the business’ fifth annual Candlelight Christmas Shopping Event.
Between Nov. 13-14, the store will be open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., offering holiday lights, food, friends and shopping deals as part of the opening of the Christmas season.
“It helps kick off the holiday season for us,” O’Hara said.
Whether winning awards or ushering in the holidays, however, O’Hara said the business continues to thrive due to their faithful shoppers.
“We couldn’t do it without our customers,” O’Hara said. “We want to thank them for all their support."
